It doesn't look so terrible...

I guess. I'm glad that they seem to have gone completely off the canon and created something new. You can't really tell what the plot is from the preview, but it seems to have something to do with witchcraft and the end of the world. Hmph. A bit over the top for a Holmes story, but nonetheless, here is the preview:

Hmmm, not sure about this. I think your title, "It Doesn't Look So Terrible" is the faintest of praise and conveys the dubiousness that I feel.

For me the fun of the Sherlock Holmes stories was the unravelling of the mysteries and how Holmes was able to divine the truth. This looks like an action movie, which usually end up being rather boring.

On the plus side the woman looked great in that corset and I like the idea of Robert Downey jr as Holmes.

I guess it's not the Hound of the Baskervilles but that's ok, should be fun. At least it seems like an original thought for a movie for a change (aka Star Trek)!

I, for one, can't wait.

December, Schmember - looks like the perfect summer movie to me. Then again, I'm just a prisoner of my vapid love of a good action yarn.

Madame, the key to my release is beneath this pillow! ;-)

Thanks, nice tease.

Mark,

I agree, that it is not going to be like the Holmes stories at all, but a Guy Ritchie beast that takes the character and puts him in a Die Hard storyline.

That, however, is better than I what I thought he was going to do, which was a "creative re-imagining" of A Scandal in Bohemia- which would have just been an embarrassing travesty (but still something I would have subjected myself to).

The trailer makes the movie look kinda watchable, which exceeds my former expectation that it was just going to piss me off. Not to say that this version won't piss me off (Holmes would never steal Watson's clothes!!!), but less so if it is at least entertaining and fun.
